
Originally scheduled for Sept. 10-25 last year, the Huangzhou Asian Games will be held from Sept. 23 to Oct. 8 this year after being postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. All India Football Federation (AIFF) general secretary Shaji Prabhakaran told PTI that an appeal would be sent to government authorities to allow soccer teams to participate in the September games in China. This is a decision taken by the government. Therefore, we have to abide by it. However, we will request the government to reconsider the decision regarding soccer, Prabhakaran said.
Following this, even coach Stimac has asked for an exception for soccer teams to participate in the tournament.
