Four defeats in the first six games of the season for the first time since 1986-87:
Manchester United started the season positively with a 1-0 win over Wolves in the Premier League. However, they were unable to repeat that result in their subsequent league matches, losing 2-0 to Tottenham. In the next match, the Red Devils defeated Nottingham Forest in a tense home game.

Since that win, Manchester United have played three matches, including their Champions League opener, and lost all of them. It is the first time since 1986 that Manchester United have suffered four defeats in their first six matches in all competitions. This unwanted result was previously achieved by Manchester United when Ron Atkinson was the team’s manager.

Including the four goals against Bayern, Manchester United have conceded 14 times this season in all competitions. That is the highest of any Premier League club this season. Wolves are ahead of Manchester United on that tally, having conceded 11 goals in five matches.
Bayern have conceded three goals in three consecutive matches for the first time since 1978:
Bayern became the third team to score three goals against Manchester United in one particular match this season. Prior to the Champions League, Manchester United had conceded three goals against Arsenal and Brighton in the Premier League. It is the first time since December 1978 that the Red Devils have conceded three or more goals in three consecutive matches in all competitions. Dave Sexton was Manchester United manager when the club faced similar disappointment last time out.
Returning to the Champions League match, Bayern started the game on a dominant note, leading by two goals already. in the first half. Denmark’s Rasmus Højlund opened the scoring against Manchester United in the 49th minute. But four minutes later, the hosts regained a two-goal advantage before Harry Kane restored Bayern’s lead. In the 88th minute, Brazilian midfielder Casemiro again reduced Manchester United’s lead, but it didn’t take Bayern long to make the score 3-2. In the 92nd minute, Mathis Thel gave Bayern back a two-goal advantage. At the end of the second half, Casemiro scored his second goal of the evening, making the score 4-3.
