The leaders of the Brazilian Football Confederation have said they intend to wait one season and then invite 64-year-old Italian coach Ancelotti to lead the team to the 2026 World Cup.
Fluminense coach Diniz, 49, will keep his job at the Rio de Janeiro-based club and only join Brazil for World Cup qualifiers in South America. He will succeed Brazil U-20 coach Ramon Menezes, who led the team in friendlies this year on an interim basis and lost two of three matches.
Brazil has yet to appoint a long-term coach to replace Tite, who left his post after a quarterfinal loss to Croatia in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Diniz, who has been praised by Brazilian stars including Neymar and Thiago Silva in recent years, will be introduced at a press conference Wednesday at the Brazilian Football Confederation headquarters in Rio de Janeiro.
It’s a dream for anyone, an honor and a great pride to work for the national team, Diniz said in a video release, wearing the Brazilian national team jacket.
It’s a joint operation between the Brazilian Football Confederation and Fluminense. I have confidence that we have everything we need to take it on and make it a success.
The Brazilian Football Confederation said in a statement that negotiations for the hiring of Diniz were quiet and cautious so as not to interfere iwia in the home arena.
PSG signed Mbappe for 180 million euros from Monaco in 2017, investing so much in a player destined to become a superstar. Although his performance in the Parisian squad has been excellent since then, and he himself has already become one of the best players in the world, it has not translated into success in the Champions League. Mbappe is unhappy with the organization of the team and the management around him, which has led him to start thinking about moving to clubs such as Real Madrid in the last few transfer windows.
Paris will be wary of letting Mbappe go on a free transfer next year, and is therefore either looking to extend his contract or preparing to put him on the transfer market to recoup some of his investment. L’Equipe reports that Mbappe has been given until the end of July to extend his contract, otherwise he will be sold this summer.
Perhaps Mbappe wants to move to 13-time Champions League champions Real Madrid, because that is the biggest stage for his soccer. Mbappe shined in front of audiences with incredible performances at the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, including a hat trick in the final in Qatar. In France, however, he plays in a league dominated by one team, and perhaps he will look for another challenge in the next phase of his career.
Real Madrid is reportedly not interested in Mbappe at this time, having been rejected in an attempt to sign him in the past
